For Liz, the journey to working in the mental health field is personal. “When I was growing up, I had an aunt who was in and out of psychiatric hospitals due to depression. I used to love going to visit her and the other patients at the hospitals, and my interest in connecting with people in the mental health field developed at a very young age because of this.”

With 15 years in the field, Liz brings experience from working in inpatient units, addiction units, and crisis stabilization sites including psychiatric emergency rooms and psychiatric urgent care centers. She’s passionate about body positivity in the mental health space and believes that mental health care should not be stigmatized. “Extra support and human connection is helpful for almost everyone. It doesn’t hurt to reach out to connect to see if there are ways that we can maximize your living experience.”

In her free time, Liz enjoys hiking with her husband and dog, baking, and listening to podcasts.

Nneka’s interest in the mental health field started early in life as she saw her close family members and friends struggle with mental health. She knew she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives and decrease the stigma around mental health, especially for those in the African-American community.

Having worked in private practice as well as in inpatient facilities seeing patients of all ages, Nneka believes in the power of educating her patients so that they can make informed decisions about their treatment.

Nneka knows that taking care of your mental health can be scary, but she aims to make it feel as easy as possible. “I wish more people knew that they have resources and options when it comes to mental health care.
